NYC: THE ARCHITECTURAL AND INTERIOR DESIGN OF GRAND CENTRAL STATION

Grand Central Station is a commuter rail terminal located on 42nd street and Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan and is one of the world's top ten most visited tourist attractions, and I was lucky enough to visit it this week to admire the incredible building. As someone who is interested in the arts of architecture and interior design, I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and explored the building in detail.

The largest working train station in the United states is famous for it's beautiful exterior and interior design and is must on the bucket list if you ever visit the City of New York. Inside you really capture a natural glimpse of everyday life of the people from around the country and all over the world. The huge building has both meticulous details and monumental spaces, and it is described as one of the most majestic buildings of this time period. When I walked in I immediately sensed the grand feel of the station and it didn't quite feel real that I was in the actual Grand Central that everyone talks about and I have seen multiple films. The main concourse's ceiling is an elliptical barrel vault in an elegant turquoise-blue colour which I think completed the space which is filled with iconography. The magical building was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by Reed and Stem and Warren and Wetmore. Below are some of the images I took of the Station's interior to share on my blog and remember the special experience.
